If your KHS machine is giving you a hard time with uneven heating, you’re probably dealing with a thermal field problem in your IR lamps. It’s a common headache. One minute you’ve got a cold spot, the next the neck is overheating. Then you’re looking at bottles with wonky wall thickness or, worse, structural failures that scrap the whole batch. The deal with thermal distribution Here is the thing: standard lamps usually have “cold ends” near the electrodes. This creates a dip in temperature right where you can’t afford one. We handle this by getting creative with the filament winding and the quartz itself. By tweaking the wattage density along the tube, we flatten out that heat curve. The result? The IR radiation actually hits the PET consistently from one end to the other. No more guessing games. The nuts and bolts These are built to be simple drop-in replacements. We use high-purity quartz glass because it can take the thermal shock without burning out early. We also make sure the voltage and wattage match your existing controllers exactly, so you aren’t fighting with your electrical setup. And let’s talk about the connectors. This is where things usually go sideways. We use precision-fit R7s or SK15 bases to keep contact resistance low. If the fit is loose, you get a hot spot that can literally melt your socket. Not a great look. A few things to keep in mind Now, you might be tempted to just crank up the wattage to speed up your cycle times. But there’s a catch. Pushing more power into a short-wave tube puts a lot more stress on your cooling blowers. If you decide to go with a higher-density lamp, just double-check that your oven’s airflow can actually strip that extra heat away. Otherwise, you’re risking a tube rupture.
