
Getting the Heat Right for Husky HyPET Systems
If you’ve spent any time with high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. You’re pushing for speed, but then you see it: uneven walls or that annoying pearlescent haze. The problem is usually simple. The heat isn’t getting to the core. You’re basically searing the outside of the preform while the center stays cold. We built our softening lamps for Husky HyPET systems specifically to stop that from happening. The trick to deep heat Most standard infrared lamps just roast the surface. To actually get the heat to soak through the PC or PET, we shifted the spectrum to short-wave energy. We messed with the tungsten filament density and used a cleaner grade of quartz for the envelope. It sounds like a lot of technical tinkering, but the result is simple: the heat actually penetrates. Instead of just heating the “skin,” the entire cross-section hits that glass transition temperature. The gear under the hood These are drop-in replacements. No need to rebuild your setup. We use high-purity quartz because, let’s be honest, high-wattage loads chew through cheap glass. These tubes run on high-voltage configs to keep things compact, but they still pump out a massive amount of heat. And we’re obsessive about the connectors. We stick strictly to Husky standards. Why? Because a loose connection at these currents leads to arcing, and arcing ruins your sockets. We use precision-molded ends so they snap in tight and stay that way. The trade-off Now, here’s the thing. These lamps are powerful. Because they dump so much radiant heat into the system, your oven’s cooling blowers have to work harder. You’ve got to make sure your airflow is dialed in. If your cooling is weak, the oven gets too hot, and your preforms might start to deform before they even hit the mold. But once you’ve got the wiring and the cooling sorted? You can push your HyPET system to its absolute limit. You get the maximum BPM, and your bottles stay crystal clear and strong.
